Trump aims at cutting prices by unleashing American energy

During his campaign, Donald Trump made one of his pillars the idea of 'unleashing American energy.' After a Biden Administration that seemed hellbent on destroying American energy, and its independence, Trump plans to bring it back. He aims to cut American energy bills in half, with the hopes that an energy uptick will bring prices back down.

But just how realistic is that? You would not think of oil, gas, and energy being related to food prices typically, but they are more intertwined than anyone realizes. Oil and gas are involved in production of food, it is used to ship product to stores, it is used in the plastic it is stored in, and it is used in the garbage bags in which you throw it away.

So, in theory, it should work. Fox News oil and gas expert Phil Flynn says an impact anywhere from eight to ten percent, and maybe higher, could be the result.

"When these people hear things like 'stop drilling in the Gulf of Mexico to save the planet,' they do not realize every single person on the earth is dependent on fossil fuels," he says.

Trump has said he wants to have this idea implemented, and have prices cut within 18 months. The markets have already responded to Trump's return, with Flynn adding that futures have been up ever since polls came out in August.

But getting American energy back on track is not an easy task. For four years, the Biden Administration has taken every action to ensure America is energy dependent. Biden nixed the Keystone Pipeline deal on day one in office and has tried desperately to instill a 'Green New Deal,' to appease his delusional base.

All of that though can be fix with some executive orders. The biggest challenge is undoing the massive mess Biden created.

"They scared away investments, they slowed down drilling in federal lands...they have caused a lot of uncertainty in the marketplace, which hurts the efficiency of the market," he says.

Part of Trump's plan is to 'drill, baby drill,' which he repeated many times on the campaign trail. But that alone will not cause prices, or energy bills, to drop overnight. It will take a while for things to really bring some noticeable savings.

While getting rid of the Biden policies with executive orders will be a good start, he will also bring back energy by just being friendly with them.

"Instead of demonizing the oil and gas industry like President Biden did, Trump will work with them...and get things moving," he says. "Let's be safe and efficient, and not just slow down approval processes for the sake of doing things."

Flynn adds that even many Democrats are starting to even see the importance of fossil fuels, and that will help get things back in line.

Trump can bring back lower prices and American based energy. But the road ahead is long, and undoing the catastrophic Biden policies will prove to be maybe his biggest challenge.
