The Tren de Aragua gang is making more attempts to cross the border into the U.S.

According to a leaked Texas Department of Public Safety memo, armed members of the gang are trying to force their way through a border gate in El Paso again with another attempt coming as soon as New Year's Day. An anonymous informant alerted Texas authorities that break-ins would "continue every night" at around 3 a.m. The informant added that the gang wants to "cause harm" to the Texas National Guard soldiers.

20 gang members, armed with knives and broken liquor bottles, have already made an attempt to breach the border wall. They tried to force their way through a border gate last week. More than 200 migrants were able to get through razor wire and assault Texas National Guard soldiers earlier this year in El Paso.

A Texas law enforcement source said gunfire has also recently picked up near the border at El Paso.

Border officials believe the gang wants as many members to enter the country as possible before President-elect Donald Trump takes office later this month.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has already declared the violent gang a foreign terrorist organization.
