President-elect Donald Trump is all in on Mike Johnson remaining as Speaker of the House.
“Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!” Trump said on Truth Social Monday morning.
There has been speculation over the last week that Johnson's Speakership is in trouble. Several conservatives are upset at him for working with Democrats to pass a spending deal earlier this month. That package, which every Democrat voted for, as opposed to the nearly 40 Republicans that voted against it. Kentucky's Thomas Massie had already come out and said he would not vote for Johnson.
Congress returns from the New Year's holiday on January 3rd. A protracted fight over the Speakership would delay the implementation of Trump's agenda.
