Houston Police have detained a man for a fake Christmas Eve bomb threat against Houston's Lakewood Church.
Police responded Tuesday night to reports that a man had threatened to blow up the church on the Southwest Freeway with a device attached to sarin gas. A Christmas Eve candlelight service was in progress at the time.
Officers arrived at the church and found the suspect with duffel bags. The bomb squad and HFD hazmat responded, assessed the bags, and found no threats. The suspect was arrested on felony charges.
The man in custody is identified as Aaron Suppes.
"Called dispatch, called 911 stating that him and his sister were being microwaved from overseas, whatever that means, so obviously having some mental issues," officials said.
Suppes has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony. His bond has been set at $25,000.
