Despite a 'Plan B' that was backed by president-elect Donald Trump, a Republican spending bill that would have kept the government from shutting down, failed badly in the House.
The final vote tally was 174-235-1, with 38 Republicans voting against the bill, which would have funded the government for 3 months, while also suspending the debt ceiling for 2 years. Something that Trump demanded.
Lawmakers will now go back to the drawing board.
