More than a dozen congressional Democrats are planning to skip President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20.

As of Saturday, 13 House Democrats are not attending while 20 are still undecided. 44 plan to attend. Ten Senate Democrats are unsure if they will attend or not. 11 are confirmed to be attending.

Some Democrats cite the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. coinciding with the inauguration and the January 6, 2021 capitol riot as reasons to skip out on attending.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) said going to Trump's inauguration "seems like the worst place to spend Martin Luther King Day."

A spokesperson for the Carter Center told USA TODAY that former president Jimmy Carter will not be in attendance due to his health issues. The 100-year-old has been in hospice care for nearly two years and would otherwise be going to the inauguration.
