Mexico Doesn't Want Illegals From Other Countries To 'Remain In Mexico'

As the back and forth continues between president-elect Trump and Mexico president Claudia Sheinbaum, outstanding immigration reporter Todd Bensman, with the Center for Immigration Studies, went to Mexico and the chance to speak with a high ranking Mexican government official.

"Well, what's really going on is that the Mexican government is pushing back" Bensman said. Or at least, they are trying to push back.

Trump has vowed that on day one, his 'remain in Mexico' policy will resume. But Mexico doesn't want any illegals from other countries to stay there.

"They don't want to take non-Mexican's, so there's going to be conflict on Inauguration Day and beyond" Bensman told KTRH, "They don't want to take all these people back, they just don't."

They also don't any part of the 'Trump tariff's', but they may not have a choice, if they don't comply.

"There may be some sparks for trade tariff's, and they probably will lose any kind of trade war with the United States" noted Bensman.

Which is why Mexico's president is trying to strike some kind of deal with Trump, before he returns to the White House.

Also during his trip, Bensman spoke with many immigrants who wanted to get into the U.S., but now that it might be too late, have decided they will just return to their home countries, rather than remain in Mexico.

"Just the prospect of these policies that Trump's going to bring in, is going to really substantially reduce the pressure on the Southern border" Bensman said.

January 20th cannot get here soon enough.
