Who says politics and Thanksgiving don't mix? It likely depends on what side of the political aisle you're on. This year, coming off Donald Trump's big win over Kamala Harris, conservatives are celebrating many political reasons to be thankful. On the other hand, liberals will have to take solace in seconds of mashed potatoes or the new Minnie Mouse balloon at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Matt Kittle, elections correspondent at The Federalist, has shared a list of political things to be thankful for post-election. While most of the list is humorous, his first item of thanks is semi-serious: a return to competent government. "We no longer have to look at four more years of men pretending to be women in key executive branch positions," says Kittle. "I think the American voter really looked at what they experienced over the last four years, and said I think we'll go back to the other guy that we had four years before."
Also on Kittle's list: no more lectures from annoying left-wing celebrities. "Oprah, Michelle, Beyonce, Taylor...they will no longer be playing in politics, at least for awhile," he tells KTRH.
But perhaps the biggest reason for conservatives to be thankful: no more awkward Kamala Harris interviews and speeches. "We just dodged four very long years of cringey word salads, and the constant cackling of Kamala Harris," says Kittle. "It is a relief to most Americans, I think, that we won't have to endure that for another four years."
There is, however, at least one thing post-election that everyone at the Thanksgiving dinner table can be grateful for. "No more campaign ads," says Kittle.
