A recently released police report details the night of alleged sexual assault allegations against President-elect Donald Trump’s defense secretary nominee, Pete Hegseth.
The report from 2017 was made available last week via a freedom of information request. The accuser claimed Hegseth raped her at hotel during a Republican women’s conference in Monterey, California seven years ago.
However, the police report includes several eyewitness accounts and surveillance video from that particular night that have not added up with some of the woman's claims.
The accuser had said she believed “something may have been slipped into her drink, as she cannot remember most of the night’s events.” Surveillance video obtained by police showed the woman appeared coherent before and after the alleged rape occurred. A worker at the hotel said they saw the accuser touching Hegseth’s back and then leading him towards his hotel room. Another eyewitness told police she saw the accuser flirting with Hegseth.
Hegseth told officers that he was “buzzed” that night but not intoxicated and was at one point led out of the bar where there was an afterparty event but could not remember by whom.
