It's been Governor Greg Abbott vs. China this week, as for 4 consecutive days, Abbott announced 4 different executive orders all aimed at protecting Texans from China.
"Of course, we should have been doing these things in Texas and other states long before, but it's great that we're doing it now" said China expert, Gordon Chang.
On Monday, Abbott directed the Texas DPS to counter harassment campaigns by the CCP against Chinese-Americans in Texas. On Tuesday, he ordered state agencies and public institutions to improve their security and protect critical infrastructure.
"It was really important for governor Abbott to order the Department of Public Safety to protect people in Texas from harassment and intimidation and blackmail, by Chinese officials and administrative state security agents" Chang told KTRH.
Abbott also directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management and the P.U.C. to prepare for cyberattacks, while also directing state agencies to divest their portfolios from China.
"Because the federal government has not done enough, it was good that governor Abbott actually started working on this" noted Chang, who believes we could see governor's across the country follow Abbott's lead and take similar action.
But he also warned that president-elect Donald Trump is going to have a "monumental task" to handle and deal with all of the issues with regard to China.
Gordon Chang has a new book out titled, "Plan Red: China's Project to Destroy America".
