The transition into President-elect Donald Trump's second term continues with another historic pick.
In a statement released Friday, Trump announced that he has picked campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt to serve as press secretary.
"Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator," Trump said in his statement. "I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again."
The 27-year-old Leavitt will be the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history. She previously served in Trump's first administration as assistant press secretary behind Kayleigh McEnany.
"Thank you, President Trump, for believing in me," Leavitt said in a post she made to X. "I am humbled and honored. Let's MAGA!"
