The FBI is in the midst of a massive agency overhaul.
Newsweek is reporting that FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Director Paul Abbate are both expected to be axed from their roles when President-elect Donald Trump assumes office in January.
Wray was appointed by Trump in 2017 for 10 years and had intended to serve out his full term although Trump called for Wray's immediate resignation after he testified before Congress that Trump's ear injury from the July assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania may not have come from a bullet. The FBI later said in a statement that a bullet did actually hit Trump's ear.
During his time on the campaign trail, Trump had mentioned wanting to rid of what he sees as politically motivated officials within the agency.
