President-elect Donald Trump has tabbed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
"The Safety and Health of all Americans is the most important role of any Administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming Health Crisis in this Country," part of Trump's statement in a post made Thursday read.
Kennedy joined the Trump campaign beginning in the summer after dropping out of the presidential race as an Independent. He then began promoting new health standards and potential solutions to the chronic disease epidemic going on in the U.S. Soon after, the slogan, "Make America Healthy Again," was born.
RFK Jr. began his career as an environmental attorney before becoming more involved in research on various vaccines. He has also publicly stated that he will work with the Trump administration to dismantle what he calls corruption in multiple federal agencies by cutting as many as 600 federal health positions.
