Texas is nowhere close to being purple, but Harris County is after a historic number of gains on Election night.
"It's exciting, the results are exciting how competitive a lot of the races are" said Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey, who was also a winner, "It's a good day in Harris County, looking forward to what we're going to do in the near future."
A future that will include more Republican judges in Harris County, with wins for 10 appellate judges and 10 local district judges.
"This is a tremendous accomplishment" said state senator Paul Bettencourt who was also re-elected, "We've got 20 and that makes us a purple county, with the 10 appellate judges and our 10 local judges, that's 20. We're back because Harris County is the biggest purple county in the country."
Harris County Republicans had their best showing since 2014, winning 31 of 32 head to head match-ups with Democrats.
