When we last heard of Texas death row inmate, Robert Roberson, Dr. Phil was supporting him in front of a Texas House Committee hearing. So what has happened since then? Not much.
"Things are in a little bit of a holding pattern, and it has prompted a bit of a crisis in Texas politics" said reporter Holly Hansen, who has been covering the case for The Texan.
A crisis, and a clash, between Texas lawmakers who are going toe to toe with Governor Greg Abbott, and Attorney General Ken Paxton.
"Everyone is trying to figure out where to go from here" Hansen told KTRH, "What's a legal pathway forward, does his execution get rescheduled, or does he get a new trial?"
Some key questions, but right now, there are no answers.
"Everyone is waiting to see whether or not this House Committee can actually interview Roberson himself" noted Hansen, "There's a lot of questions swirling about right now, and we've seen an unusual division, taking one side or the other in this case."
One thing we do know for sure, the soonest a new execution date can be set for Roberson is in mid-January.
