Google has become one of the most important tools in modern-day life, but it has devolved into a politically and financially motivated machine that takes advantage of and manipulates its users. They put their weight behind Joe Biden in 2020, effectively carrying him to victory.
Psychologist, author, and journalist Robert Epstein spoke about Google's nefarious activities with podcast host Joe Rogan. He stated, "Take Google out of the equation, and that would have been pretty much a tie in the popular vote, and Trump would have won eleven out of the thirteen swing states, instead of five."
He explains that Google's business model is to offer free services like their search engine, YouTube, and others, and then use those services to collect user data, which they subsequently use to profit from and manipulate their users.
Epstein went on to say that in the information age, data has become a critical part of life, and Google's database is the ultimate supply of it. For this reason, Epstein believes that Google's database should be declared a public commodity, similar to water or electricity.
Epstein told Rogan that by opening up access, smaller niche web browsers would actually force Google to compete in a more open market. He also believes this would lead to more advancements in search engine technology. He pointed out that there have been no major innovations in search engines during the 20 years that Google has dominated the market.
