For the first time in years, the military has finally been able to reach its recruitment goals, but it turns out they only did it by moving the goalposts. The top brass is cutting some major corners in order to make ends meet.

Jake Smithy with The Daily Caller told KTRH, "They've lowered standards for recruitment across the board. That includes fitness standards, education standards, and even standards related to mental health."

Smith says that lowering the bar like this is going to have major national security implications. He said, "War in Europe, war in the Middle East—our military needs to be more ready now than ever, and we're arguably less ready now than we were 20 years ago."

The Army has also managed to meet its recruitment goal by lowering its target from 65,000 in 2023 to just 55,000 this year.
