Today was the day for another ERCOT Board of Directors meeting, and the big item on the agenda: ERCOT connecting to the U.S. power grid. The Department of Energy has even given the line a name.
"The Southern Spirit Transmission Project" said Michael Jewell, industry expert and managing attorney for Jewell and associates.
At the meeting, ERCOT CEO Pablo Vegas tried to push-back on some of the criticism for finally connecting to the U.S. grid.
"Pablo made clear that the Southern Spirit will not affect the ERCOT grid's independence from federal regulation" Jewell told KTRH.
In addition to that, ERCOT has also updated it's app, and they are evaluating what to do with 3 gas plants set to shut down outside of San Antonio.
Also of note, ERCOT praised the fact that this was sixth hottest summer on record, and there were no issues.
Next up, winter.
