It won't stop all of the violent crime here in Houston, but at least you'll finally be able to see the true numbers.
D.A. Kim Ogg, along with the University of Houston have unveiled a new Harris County criminal dashboard, which allows you to check on up to 1 million criminal cases.
The tool was developed through a collaborative effort between the Harris County District Attorney's Office and the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Data Science Institute at UH.
“Our office, for the last seven and a half, almost eight years, has had a simple mission, and that mission is that we are dedicated to making our community safer through evidence-based prosecution and equal justice for all. This means guaranteeing a fair process for the victim, the accused and the community in every case,” Ogg said.
The D.A. also said that she hopes the media will now tell the truth, when it comes to the crime numbers, and judges who have continually let criminals out on bond.
"This is, in a sense a reality check also on what's reported" Ogg said to the group, "And I think that the media has a responsibility, just like we do to be very transparent."
