Donald Trump continues to push for more American influence in space, now pledging to create a Space Force National Guard if he is re-elected. So, what would this new Space Force National Guard look like?
Retired Army Captain and JAG lawyer Sean Timmons told KTRH, "That's really to be determined. They haven't really outlined what exactly the responsibilities would be, but I'm assuming a generic support role."
Timmons says this could become an asset for states. He said, "There already is an Air National Guard, and there are Air National Guard pilots. A Space National Guard would have a similar role, allowing states to incorporate Space Force elements within their National Guard structure."
Timmons also noted that, unfortunately, the Space Force National Guard will likely face the same recruiting difficulties that have plagued the rest of the U.S. military.
