After years of being bullied, censored, and outright canceled by the left, the right is finally fighting back...and finding some success. The latest example is in Congress, where House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) recently went after the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), a media watchdog group that has worked to steer advertisers away from conservative content. After Jordan's committee held hearings and released a scathing report on GARM, Elon Musk sued the organization, and its parent company announced GARM was shutting down.
Texas has led similar fights, suing the Biden state department last year for conspiring to censor media companies. All of this pushback is getting praise from frustrated conservatives like Josh Hammer, writer and podcast host who is calling for even more to join this fight. "What I am trying to do is essentially issue a rallying cry to every Republican state AG office out there to try and provide some support for the Republicans in Congress," he tells the Washington Watch podcast. "There is a lot out there trying to censor conservative speech, and we need all the help we can get to fight back."
Hammer praises those like Jordan and Paxton who are taking on the left directly, but warns that without more pushback, these Democrat proxy organizations and "watchdogs" will continue pressuring businesses to de-platform, de-monetize, and even de-bank conservatives. "As someone who is clearly right of center and contributing to the public square, I am terrified that my bank might try to cut me off...or my retirement account (manager) might try to tell me to divest," he continues. "These are really terrifying times frankly, and it's going to take some willingness on the part of Republicans to get their hands a little dirtier."
