A federal judge in Texas is putting a pause of a Biden program that offers amnesty to illegals through marriage. The policy allows those in the US illegally, who are married to a US citizen and meet other criteria, to apply for a green card and stay in the country while the process works through the system. Before this policy, someone applying for a green card would have to go back to their home country and wait for the application to process.
On Monday U.S. District Judge J. Campbell Barker issued a pause to the Biden program following a lawsuit by 16 states, led by Texas. The lawsuit says the program incentivizes illegal immigration. Although the President announced the new policy in June, the lawsuit comes just one week after DHS began accepting applications.
