Harris turns down Trump's debate plan with Fox News

Vice President Kamala Harris has refused a debate with former President Donald Trump for September 4 on Fox News.

Instead, Harris wants an initial debate scheduled for September 10 on ABC News to take place. That debate was originally planned when President Joe Biden was still the presumptive Democrat nominee for president. Trump said that debate was off ever since Biden dropped out of the race.

“[It] would be inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds,” a Trump campaign spokesperson said last month.

In a post to Truth Social, Trump said he agreed to a debate with Harris on Fox News on September 4. The Harris campaign is claiming Trump is running to Fox News for cover because he's afraid to debate her.

“Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out," said Harris campaign communications director Michael Tyler. "He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on Sept 10."
