U.S. military "not prepared" for war according to Congressional Panel

A report put out recently by the Commission on the National Defense Strategy says the U.S. military may not be prepared enough for a major war.

Countries like Russia and China continue to be some of the “top threats” to the U.S. The report states that the country is currently facing some of “the most serious and most challenging” threats since 1945 with China especially trying to "outpace" the U.S. in military advancement. According to Ret. Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, the United States is not prepared at all in an instance of a global challenge of power.

"It all comes down to presidential leadership and the guidance that the president provides as commander in chief and leader of the national security team," Kellogg told Fox.

The message to allies and adversaries should be clear and one that presents strength, but Kellogg says the country has not sent that type of message in the past few years. He sees weakness from President Biden.

"Our adversaries don't respond to kindness, they respond to force and pressure," he said. "You could be the strongest military in the world but if you're not willing to use it then it means nothing to you and to your adversaries."

The U.S. military is also facing shortfall in recruitment, shortening the size of the major branches like the Army and Navy. That's not a good sign for the U.S. and doesn't help with more details of the report that say China and Russia are still well established in their “no-limits” partnership first introduced in February 2022 that also includes economic and military ties with Iran and North Korea.
