In the first White House press briefing since Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he's dropping out of the race, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was grilled by FOX's Peter Doocy, about hiding Biden's cognitive decline.
"There's been no cover up," she said "I want to be very clear about that. I know that's the narrative that you all want..." She also said multiple times that Biden will say what he wants to say tonight to all of the American people, when he gives another address from the Oval Office. Some of the other hits from KJP: She said Biden dropping out "has nothing to do with his health", while adding that Biden still believes he can serve a second term.
When asked about Biden being a lame-duck, KJP fired back, "We don't see ourselves as a lame-duck presidency at all, this is a president that has been very successful."
She also would not give any details when pressed about Biden's sudden change of heart, after saying repeatedly that he was not going anywhere.
"I'm just not going to get into specifics" KJP said, "It started Saturday evening, and then Sunday afternoon he made that decision."
Her best quote may have been the one about VP Kamala Harris. "The president has no regrets. I do not see anyone who is more qualified to step in, in this moment."
