According to a new study, many college students voting for the first time this November have never taken a civics class or read the Constitution, meaning they are preparing to vote in a system they have almost no understanding of.
Jean Burke with College Prep Genius told KTRH, "Young people today who get to college, or come of age to vote, have no idea what they're doing. They just go with whatever is popular on TikTok."
Burke says this decline in civic literacy might be by design. She said, "I think the powers that be, those who actually implement the curriculum, might not be the most civic-minded, or even have a love for America."
Burke says we need a system like school choice, so that parents who are more concerned with teaching their children things like civics and patriotism can send their children to schools that reflect those values.
