Just days after surviving the first attempted presidential assassination since Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump arrived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the Republican National Convention, where he officially received the GOP nomination for President and named Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate.
Suspicions began rising that Vance was Trump's pick after news broke earlier in the day that he had been escorted from his home via a Secret Service detail. Shortly afterward, Trump made the formal announcement via his TruthSocial account.
Later that evening, American singer/songwriter Lee Greenwood introduced President Trump at the convention by saying, "Tonight we make the decision on what's right for America: more prosperity, lower gas prices, lower food prices, and help for our veterans."
He then sang his iconic song "God Bless The U.S.A." as former President Donald Trump marched into the stadium, with the crowd cheering "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"—the words Trump shouted after being shot on stage in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Donald Trump was joined in his family box at the RNC by former Fox News host and conservative influencer Tucker Carlson, Florida Representative Byron Donalds, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and, of course, now Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance.
