CenterPoint Energy says they have achieved their goal of restoring power to 1 million customers by the end of Wednesday. That's of little comfort to the over 1 million Houstonians who still have yet to see their lights and AC come back on.

Houston Mayor John Whitmire has vowed to hold CenterPoint accountable, saying, "I hold them accountable on a regular basis. We expect CenterPoint to be prepared; they can do better. They need to do a review of action."

CenterPoint maintains that they are doing everything they can to get power back as soon as possible. According to CenterPoint, they aim to have another 400,000 customers restored by the end of the day on Friday, July 12, and an additional 350,000 restored by the end of Sunday, July 14. They have also released a new outage map so you can track their progress; you can find it here.
