Beryl Makes Landfall as Category Four Storm

Hurricane Beryl has made landfall as a Category 4 storm on Carriacou Island with winds of 150 MPH.

The storm is the earliest Category 4 storm on record.

The latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center projects the storm to hit the Windward Islands early Monday.

As for where Beryl heads after that, forecaster Matt Lanza at The Eyewall wrote:

”The storm will likely remain sufficiently south of Puerto Rico and Hispaniola to preclude serious damage there, but it could threaten Jamaica on Wednesday and Central America and the Yucatan Peninsula toward the end of the week. After that? Movement into the Gulf of Mexico is possible, but after this point our confidence starts to decrease.”

There are two other systems being monitored by the National Hurricane Center.
