Yesterday, 26-year-old Franklin Pena appeared in court and had his bond set at $10,000,000.00. Today, the second suspect in Jocelyn Nungaray's murder, 22-year-old Johan Jose Martinez Rangel, also appeared for his arraignment.

He received a matching $10,000,000.00 bond.

Prosecutors said during a news conference after Pena's arraignment that both men were looking for money to get out of Houston. Lead prosecutor Megan Long said Pena contacted his boss at a local construction company, who then reached out to police.

Kelbin Alvarenga, Jocelyn’s grandfather, spoke after the hearing, saying, “I’m thankful for the ruling today, the amount of bail that was set. I know for a fact they’re not going anywhere. They’re going to stay where they belong and the system, justice will prevail.”

Jocelyn Nungaray's funeral will be this Thursday starting at 1:00 pm at the Earthman Resthaven Cemetery on North Freeway. The public is invited to attend.
