Free Speech? State Speech Police Vote To Target Citizens

In case you missed it, last week the (TEC) Texas Ethics Commission unanimously approved new rules that will actually target free speech of citizens.

The new change is aimed at 'social media influencers', but it could ultimately lead to trouble for everyday Texans.

"Unfortunately, the way that this was done, it could have a real chilling effect on citizens who just want to post on social media" said Brandon Waltens, senior editor at Texas Scorecard, "There's no definition of what consideration means."

So what could these new rules be like for non-social media influencers?

"If you went to a campaign event for a candidate and they gave you a hat and you tweeted out that you were at the event, you might be worried that you could be fined $4,000 dollars for not disclosing" Waltens told KTRH, "This just shows how ridiculous and how vague this rule is."

Apparently, the rule is in retaliation for those who spoke out on social media in support of AG Ken Paxton, during his sham impeachment trial.
