ERCOT Board Of Directors: "We're Prepared For Summer"

ERCOT is back in the news for their Board of Director's meeting, and the message was simple: "We're prepared for the summer" said ERCOT CEO Pablo Vegas, "The tightest time to manage the grid throughout this summer has shifted, from the peak load hours in the middle of the afternoon to the sunset hours in the evening, as the solar generation declines."

And then there's a separate story, as one ERCOT official said recently that Texas may need to double it's power generation over the next six years.

"Yeah, there's just a lot of drivers of this slow growth" said Doug Lewin, author of the Texas Energy and Power Newsletter, "A lot of people think it's people moving here, but actually the vast majority of the growth, almost all of it, is coming from the industrial sector."

Some of the other big take-aways from the ERCOT board meeting: Chairman Paul Foster announced his resignation, the push continues to grow for 'demand response' and the different ways to incentivize people to not use power during peak hours, and the lingering need of more that needs to be done to meet demand.
