Yesterday's annual congressional baseball game was won by the House Republicans with a final score of 31-11, but not before left-wing activists had a chance to try and steal the spotlight.
Before the game had even begun, during the national anthem, anti-Israel protesters unfurled banners and chanted "Free Palestine" and "You're funding a genocide." The crowd responded by chanting "USA! USA!" After the performance of the anthem was finished, the protesters were escorted out by security.
By the second inning, the Republicans were leading 4-2, and climate activists decided that was their moment to steal the show. A group of eight protesters rushed onto the field wearing matching shirts that said "end fossil fuel."
That disruption resulted in a pause of the game, with lawmakers being forced to leave the field. The radical climate group Climate Defiance has claimed responsibility for organizing the disruption, and Capitol Police say the protesters involved are facing federal charges. The crowd once again responded with chants of "USA! USA!"
