Storm repairs will lead to increase in bills for CenterPoint customers

CenterPoint Energy expects their customers to take on a little bit more on their monthly bills in order to accommodate for restoration costs following the severe storms in May.

Recovery efforts continue for folks hit by the storms which included heavy rain and tornadoes. CenterPoint’s infrastructure also endured extensive damage with many telephone poles and transmission towers seriously affected.

CenterPoint Energy’s Executive Vice President of Regulatory Services and Government Affairs Jason Ryan projects the total costs for restoration will be at least $100 million, although there is no final estimate yet. Those costs will ultimately fall on the customers.

Ryan added that customers may see around a dollar or less added to their monthly bills to help with the restoration costs.
