School choice might finally become a reality in Texas after the massive wins in the GOP primaries, but what are the next steps, and what obstacles do we still need to overcome? For starters, the House has the numbers, but the Senate might be another question.
Christian Collins with The Texas Youth Summit told KTRH, "There's a couple state senators that will be retiring; they might be no votes. And so we're not sure how many votes we truly have in the Senate." He says things are looking better than they ever have, but it's impossible to tell for sure how things will play out in the Senate.
Collins also warned that we likely haven't seen the last of Dade Phelan, and given the amount of money that was spent on his primary campaign, the Austin elites probably don't intend for him to be anything less than speaker.
Collins says it's critical that conservatives put their best foot forward here, and don't just deliver a watered-down version of school choice to Governor Abbott's desk.
