The Texas Republican Party voted on a new platform at the convention in San Antonio.

The platform called for new laws to require the Bible to be taught in public schools and a constitutional amendment that would require statewide elected leaders to win the popular vote in a majority of Texas counties.

In addition, it said that “abortion is not healthcare it is homicide”; that so called gender affirming for children is “child abuse.”

The platform was voted on as the convention came to a close, with the party choosing Abraham George as its new Chairman, replacing Matt Rinaldi.

George was one of six candidates running.
