The new Texas GOP Chairman is...Abraham George! The vote just went down in San Antonio, with George beating Dana Myers with a final vote tally of 4,691.62 to 3,958.05.
George, the former Collin County GOP Chair, replaces outgoing Chair Matt Rinaldi.
At 16 years old, Abraham immigrated with his family to the U.S. from India as soon as he finished high school. As an adult, when Abraham prepared to vote in the 2008 presidential election, he said members of the minority community were expected to align with the Democratic Party and vote for Barack Obama.
“But I didn’t agree with Obama or his policies. Though the narrative was to support him and the Democrat Party, I realized I needed to get involved with the Republican Party. The Dallas County GOP headquarters was near my office at the time, so I went in and offered to help."
He developed block-walking skills and generated grass-roots support for Republicans in the county. When he moved to Collin County in 2011, he volunteered with the Collin County Republican Party and joined a variety of Republican and conservative clubs in the county, including serving for two years on the board of the Collin County Conservative Republicans. He also served as credentials chair for the 2020 Precinct and Senate District conventions, served as vice chair of the Collin County Republican Party, and was elected to State Republican Executive Committee representing Senate District 8. Through this wide-ranging involvement in the Republican Party, he formed strong bonds with leadership and precinct chairs in the CCGOP. His enthusiasm, hard work, conservative values, and willingness to fill any role made him an obvious choice when the Collin County GOP looked for a new chairman, and he was elected by the executive committee in October 2021. In March 2022, Abraham ran unopposed on the primary ballot to begin a two-year term as chairman.
Abraham and his wife, a registered nurse, live in Parker with their two children, both of whom attend the Plano Independent School District.
