Hobby Airport reported a lightning strike hit runway 13R earlier this afternoon, which forced an immediate closure for repairs.
Officials said they are working diligently to assess the damage and make the necessary repairs to reopen runway 13R as quickly and safely as possible.
Another line of storms sets up tonight, with the potential to be strong to severe after sunset.
Rain totals could reach 2″ to 4″ the exceptions will be northeast of I-10 where communities could touch 6″ or more if we see training storms ( storms moving over the same area repeatedly). On the opposite end near the coast could struggle to hit an inch.
After this round of rain, we should be in the clear until late this week.
