The state of Texas is appealing a Harris County judge's decision to reject an injunction request for Uplift Harris program.
State Attorney General Ken Paxton is looking to block a pilot program that is giving families living in poverty $500 a month for 18 months.
The program is federally funded through the American Rescue Plan Act and would help 19-hundred families in Harris County.
It is supposed to start on Thursday but leaders are now concerned that if Paxton succeeds families would be required to pay the money back.
