HPD says 4,000 sexual assault cases dropped in scandal have been reviewed

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner announcing on Thursday afternoon that all 4,017 adult sexual assault cases that had been dropped in their 'lack of personnel code' scandal have been fully reviewed.

In a press release, Finner says that 3,462 of the 4,017 cases have been cleared, mostly due to a lack of leads. The remaining ones are still under review.

Finner said in the update as well that during the first eight weeks of their investigation, over 92,000 cases of the 264,000 total involved in the scandal have been reviewed. Around one-third, or 30,000, of those were properly suspended.

So far, they have filed 34 charges against 27 suspects in their investigation, with more potentially coming.
