Deep State Defense: Biden Rules Protect Federal Workers

It appears the Biden administration is moving to protect the Deep State in case of a Donald Trump victory this fall. Biden's Office of Personnel Management has issued a new rule that makes it more difficult to fire federal workers. Specifically, the rule prevents reclassifying civil servants as political appointees for the purpose of removing them when a new administration takes over. The Biden administration touts the rule as a way to "protect nonpartisan civil servants" from political interference. The rule applies to some 2.2 million federal employees.

But just how nonpartisan are these civil servants? Critics point out that many of these federal employees have been entrenched for many years and function as the de facto unelected leaders of the government, by writing and pushing policy behind the scenes. During the Trump administration, there were multiple instances of federal employees bragging about working from the inside to undermine the administration's policies. "What the Deep State is, fundamentally, is a bunch of folks who believe they are anointed to decide the fate of this country, and they don't think you or I actually have a vote, or should," says Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA analyst in an interview with Fox News.

Wright argues that these federal bureaucrats are working hand-in-hand with the left to push narratives on the public. "If you get tens of millions of people believing that something is true, you create an incredibly combustible environment that these people in the Deep State can then manipulate," he says.

This latest effort to protect federal employees comes after former President Donald Trump vowed to revamp the federal workforce and weed out many longtime bureaucrats if he is re-elected this November. At the same time, Biden is trying to portray these people as innocent civil servants who simply want to help Americans. "This is gaslighting," says Wright. "It is a redefinition of the Deep State telling people ignore the truth, ignore the facts, even ignore what Democrats have told you that the Deep State is real and bad...no, no, they're just here to fix your pipes."

Critics say this is more proof the Deep State is real, and that is why the Biden administration is working so hard to protect them. "It is now evident, we have multiple special counsel reports telling us that, we have an inspector general's report that says that," says Wright. "We are under attack in this country by the left, and by the Deep State."
