Check your calendars. We are seven months away from the election.

And in a move that openly defies a US Supreme Court ruling from last year, President Joe Biden will announce a student loan forgiveness program in Wisconsin.

“While a college degree is still a ticket to the middle class, that ticket’s becoming much too expensive,” Biden said.

“Too many people feel the strain and stress, wondering if they’re going to get married, have their first child, start a family. Because even if they get by, they still have this crushing, crushing debt. It’s not just a drag on them, it’s a drag on our local economies,” he added.

Biden made his announcement in a key battleground state, in one of the most liberal cities in the country, the state capitol of Madison.

According to ABC News, unlike the student loan forgiveness plan that was struck down by the Supreme Court last year, this new one will require borrowers to fall into specific categories to get relief, such as possible financial hardship or holding debt that because of interest is now bigger than the amount originally borrowed.
