Privacy advocates like the ACLU have sounded the alarm and highlight a couple of examples where the automatic license plate reading technology misread license plates and law enforcement stopped vehicles were misidentified.
Holly Beilin, spokesperson for Flock Safety says that the company's automated license plate reading technology is being used by law enforcement to capture criminals that are responsible for crimes in thousands of communities throughout the country. In some cases, the technology is being used to prevent additional crimes BEFORE they occur. A couple of recent Houston area cases in League City and Sugarland/Katy show the effectiveness in solving crimes and preventing them too.
