The Supreme Court recently ruled that a state cannot unilaterally kick a candidate off the ballot. So, that's the end of it, right? Wrong. Now, Democrats in the House are trying to kick Trump and some of his allies off the ballot federally.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) introduced legislation that would declare January 6th an insurrection and label all those involved, presumably including congressmen who objected to the certification of the election, and Donald Trump himself, insurrectionists.
Political analyst Luke Macias told KTRH, "The Democrats don't trust the American people to decide who the next president is. Their actions make that clear." Macias also said that this bill might end up having some serious unintended consequences for the Democrats as well.
For starters, the Republican razor-thin majority is more than enough to kill this bill in the House, and it would never pass the Senate even if it got there. Macias also says the people are tired of this back-and-forth about the 2020 election, and the Democrats' continued attempt to use it as a political weapon to push Trump off the ballot, rather than let the American people choose their president, might lead to more independent moderates swinging back towards Trump.
