The announcement of an arrest came after funeral services were held for 12-year old Carlos Fernandez, who was sleeping in his home in Cloverleaf on March 4, when Rivera, his mother's ex-boyfriend, allegedly shot into the boy's room, killing him.
The family of Carlos Fernandez told our TV partner, KPRC 2, that they are relieved he’s been arrested.
“God is so great,” said Carlos’ aunt. “Justice will now be done,” she added.
Earlier this year, Rivera, plead guilty to a terroristic threat, and had a lengthy criminal history.
His mother, Alva Cornejo, was arrested over the weekend for 'hindering apprehension.' Records reveal she is in this country illegally.
