It took two tries, but House Republicans followed through on their promise to impeach DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

The vote was 214 to 213, with Louisiana's Steve Scalise providing what turned out to be the tie breaking vote. Scalise was absent from last week's vote because he was getting cancer treatments.

Texas Congressman Pat Fallon had a mixed reaction to this when he spoke to Newsmax after the vote.

"We got it done; barely - by the skin of our teeth. But the man has been impeached. It's richly deserved in this case," he said.

Fallon was not happy with the margin of victory, though.

"We should be winning this by a hundred votes. But the Democrats are in lock step, putting their collective heads in the woke sand;" he stated.

This now moves on to the Senate, where the Democrats have an advantage, and you need a 2/3 vote to remove Mayorkas from office.
