The Texas Supreme Court temporarily halting depositions in the whistleblower case against Attorney General Ken Paxton.
The court issued a ruling on Tuesday staying the depositions, which were slated to begin on Thursday. Both parties have until February 29th to respond with their broader legal arguments. They did not elaborate on their decision.
It comes after earlier this month, a Travis County district court judge ordered Paxton and three top aides to sit for depositions, related to his impeachment charges last year.
The decision also came hours after GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump called on the state's high court to end the case.
Both sides are due in court Wednesday for a hearing on Paxton's motion for the judge to enter judgement.
