New Census Bureau statistics show that Texas grew by over 473,000 people last year, which is the largest increase in the nation.
The Texas Demographic Center attributes the increase to domestic migration and a baby boom.
The agency added that a surge of asylum-seekers is not a factor since most leave the state quickly after they're released.
In terms of growth rate, Texas' population increased by 1.6%, third-highest in the country behind South Carolina and Florida.
