It's been over a year since former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said an impeachment inquiry of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was imminent, and we're still waiting.
With 10,000 - 12,000 illegals being allowed into the U.S. every single day, many conservatives feel that enough is enough, and it's time for House Republicans to do what they promised, and impeach Mayorkas.
"I think it's been time" said William Davis with the Immigration Reform Law Institute, "What we've seen for the past 3 years really, they're setting new records every year in terms of the amount of people that are illegally crossing the border, and that is just a flat out dereliction of duty from the administration and particularly from Secretary Mayorkas."
Unfortunately, House Republicans whiffed when they tried to move Mayorkas last month, falling 8 votes short.
"It was a very close vote, and several people who did vote against it said that they just wanted to go through the process" Davis told KTRH, "But I can't think of a greater betrayal of the country than what we've seen from Secretary Mayorkas and his refusal to secure our border."
Two thirds of Americans say they disapprove of the Biden administration's handling of the border crisis.
If House Republicans ultimately do end up trying to fire Mayorkas, he would become just the 2nd ever cabinet official in U.S. history to be impeached.
