The Left has been in a tailspin for years as far as logic goes. It just seems to get crazier as each year passes. From their push to support open borders, to their attack on American energy, it has become a full blown, three-ring circus.
In recent years, the Democrats have started pushing their all-Electric Vehicle utopia, where no one uses gas, everyone drives electric, and the world is all flowers and sunshine. They have gotten some unanticipated heavy push back on what they think is their greatest idea, and plenty of states like Texas have taken a stand against it.
So, since they see their idea of taking your car away is not working, they will begin going after car parts. More specifically, your tires, which we can agree are an integral part of the vehicle. Recent studies have come out showing that the mere presence of tires is a threat to global health.
David Holt of the Consumer Energy Alliance says all of this is based on their cries about the climate, which hold no water.
"It is a narrative not based on fact, there is no science...there is no evidence behind what these folks in the so-called environmental community continue to say," he says. "They are not offering solutions."
The basis of the studies center around the idea that 'tire rubber is made up of over 400 different chemical compounds, many of which are known to have negative effects on human health,' and that the 'toxic chemicals being shed from tires and brakes' actually exceeds those from 'a typical car’s exhaust output.'
All of it sounds really frightening and super important...which is exactly the point.
"These groups are trying to raise money on the backs of people in this country by scaring them, and saying things that are just not factually correct," he says.
In a delicious piece of irony too, their ideas of the all-EV world are actually contrary to their desires.
"Nothing is without a downside...the component parts of electric vehicles...lithium, cobalt...they are all mined. All that mining and fracking is very harmful on the environment, no matter who you are," he says.
The American energy industry has bent over backwards already to accommodate the kicking and screaming of these climate activists, as the United States leads the world in reducing emissions. Yet, they still cry for more.
Amid all that crying too are very little solutions, as far as how to utilize the energy we do have, like oil and gas, in an efficient and responsible way.
Holt says this needs to be included in the conversation, and that the activists against it need to be removed from the conversation, period.
"It is time for that to stop, and time for these groups to be pushed aside," he says.
